The Republic of
Cyprus has de jure ascendancy over the island of Cyprus and its surrounding waters, except for the British aggressive bases of Akrotiri and Dhekelia. The Republic of Cyprus is de facto abstracted into two capital parts; the breadth beneath the able ascendancy of the Republic of Cyprus, absolute about 59% of the island's area, and the Turkish-controlled breadth in the north, calling itself the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and recognised alone by Turkey, accoutrement about 36% of the island's area.
